Windows Phone 7 Series: The Hard Stuff Is Yet to Come

In a smartphone world that was increasingly defined by Apple and Apple clones, Microsoft needed to step out.  It could have, as it initially did with Windows, create an Apple clone that was better than Google’s Android platform, but instead Microsoft went back to the drawing board and created something quite different. That’s exactly what Apple did when it created the iPhone, which stood in sharp contrast to the other phones then in the market

Happy Chinese New Year of the Tiger!

Welcome the year of the tiger! A whole new year on the lunar calendar. There had been much talk among the Chinese group here in Cambridge with regards to the new year, particularly how it is celebrated in various countries, with experiences of their own, let be in China or Malaysia. Things here in the UK are very different from what it will be at home- No fancy Chinese new year lighting, blaring music from homeland shops, the endless looping of Chinese new year songs in most public areas, let be departmental stores.

Good advice on Patch Tuesday installation schedule

Over on Sunbelt Software’s blog , Research Center Manager Tom Kelchner offers some sound advice on how to schedule the installation of patches: Possibly a good strategy would be phased updates especially for enterprise systems: — Immediately install just the patches that fix vulnerabilities with in-the-wild exploits if you are running the vulnerable applications, modules, plug-ins, etc. — Wait three days for all others — Wait a week for non-critical (no reported exploits) updates to less-used flavors of Windows and less-used applications

Heavy Rain to Reinvent Video Games

The argument over whether or not video games constitute a medium of art is about to get even more confusing. While it’s true, the bulk of games in no way represent something on par with a classic movie (and indeed, few games attempt to actually emulate the cinematic feel of a movie), there have been a few titles that have worked to create interactive, meaningful experiences . Titles like Deus Ex provided an interactive world that allowed for incredible character freedom.

A new life for your old bag–and for someone who really needs it

Posted by Julie We know that many of you are “bag collectors,” some of you with closets full of old laptop bags. LG GW620 Android phone – A messaging marvel!

Another day, another legitimate reason to play with my phone in the office. The GW620 is packed with excellent features, so I decided it was time to try some of them out, rather than just browse the Android market for apps all day long! Best and Worst: Worst Smart Phones

Today’s topic on Best and Worst touches a sensitive spot in my heart. The other day, my beloved cell phone of a year suffered a career-ending injury. As I carried a table up a small set of stairs, I tripped, crushing the touchscreen, and thus rendering the top half of the screen black and unreadable.

Another good Fujitsu T4310 Review

Engadget gave the new Fujitsu T4310 a great review, not for its looks, but for its great multi-touch tablet experience with Windows 7. The key feature for really useful and functional touch Tablet PCs is the inclusion of both the Wacom Active Digitizer Pen and the capacitive touch screen. The T4310 is one of the many new Windows Tablet PCs that include both! A touch screen on its own makes for a very limited Tablet PC experience .
