Ergohuman Ergonomic Chair

The Ergohuman is considered by many ergonomic chair experts to offer the biggest bang-for-the-buck in terms of ergonomic benefits. This chair competes directly with the Aeron by Herman Miller. Although one of the key features of the Ergohuman is the lower lumbar support, its “executive style” also fulfills my sole complaint of the Aeron which is the lack of high lumbar and neck support.

your life as an online student according to cheesy stock photos, part 2

Last week in Part One, we judiciously examined the life of the female online student according to cheesy stock photography. This week, we turn our well-trained eye to the male half of the species. As a male online student, you might be… …still taking your laundry over to Mom's house for her to do, which she quietly resents, because, well, you're a GROWN MAN, and so she stealthily gets back at you by using an ungodly amount of color-safe bleach on your shirts — more than any dude would ever use, if a dude were to use color-safe bleach at all, which he would not.

Are Employees Getting Ready for an Apple-Led Revolt?

I’m looking at a survey by enterprise mobility services vendor iPass that fomed the basis of a column by Sam Diaz over at ZDnet in which iPass surveyed around 1,000 mobile workers who make up about a third of its customer base. The survey results, coupled with this week’s news on Palm , suggest that Apple will be the only mobile vender left standing in a few months. While that’s unlikely, it does point to the problem and the power of perceptions.

Rip of the Week: DHS Loses Over 1,000 Computers in One Fiscal Year

It’s hard to beat a Rip of the Week like this one. The Independence Institute reports that the Department of Homeland Security “continues to lose hundreds of computers per year.” According to John Caldera, the president of the Independence Institute, which investigated for the report, “You really have to look at these inventories, and go through them page after page to get an idea of how obnoxious these losses are.” Interesting sound bytes: In fiscal year 2008, inventories of lost, stolen, and damaged equipment show that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) combined to lose no fewer than 985 computers. Meanwhile, the lost, stolen and damaged report for ICE shows 13 vehicles classified as “lost” or “not found during physical inventory.” CBP’s total inventory (immediately below) of lost stolen and damaged equipment tallies 1,975 pieces at a total valuation of $7.5 million.

New Millenium Learners Conference 2010 – Day 1

If you have been following my live tweets today you will know that day 1 of the ” New Millenium Learners Conference 2010 ” taking place here in Vienna at the moment was really interesting. Vienna, February 22-24 The opening session led by people from the Austrian Ministry of Education introduced some of the projects that the Ministry has been working on in Austria. Our small Austrian OLPC project in Graz was also mentioned but unfortunately due to time constraints the information on all the projects remained relatively superficial.

Another Great Reveiw of The Buddy Holly Story

The rock and roll keeps on rockin’ and rollin’ and the good reviews just keep on coming in for The Buddy Holly Story at Wayside Theatre . This one is from the Culpeper Star and the critic says it all when she proclaims: Wayside Theatre brings back Robbie Limon in the title role and demonstrates once again how getting it right can be, in the words of Mark Twain, the difference between “lightning bugs and lightning” Mr

The Microsoft Whoops Phone and iPad: The Danger of Naming

I have a rule about product naming and, since I came up with it, I call in the Enderle Rule (creative, huh?). That rule is: “When it comes to product naming, the only thing everyone will agree on is the person who came up with the name is an idiot.” I thought of this rule as I watched the coverage of the iPad, which has an uncomfortable connection to a woman’s hygiene product (I think Apple needs more women in high management positions), and the Windows Phone Series 7 name which, when turned into an acronym, WPS, sounds like “Whoops.”

LG unveil the GD880i Mini with Mobile World Congress

The emergence of touchscreen technology as a staple in phone design has had both positive and negative consequences. The positive is obvious; touchscreen adds a new depth of interactivity for the consumer as well as a whole host of other features that just wouldn’t work without touchscreen. The negative is also obvious, glaringly so.
