New "Lord of the Rings" game from Bothell’s Snowblind

One of the higher profile games out of the Seattle area next year may be ” Lord of the Rings: War in the North ,” which Bothell’s Snowblind Studios is making for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The 2011 release was announced today by Snowblind’s parent company, Warner Brothers, and will be on the cover of PlayStation Magazine’s May edition. Warner is calling it a “mature,” epic, multiplayer action-role playing game based on the novels by J.R.R.

Greenpower is an annual racing event organised by the Institution of mechanical engineers (iMechE). It electric car racing for schools, colleges, apprentices and youth groups.

Rip of the Week: Believe it or Not, Another VA Data Breach…Maybe

The news is abuzz this week about an agency that’s no stranger in the data breach world: the Veterans Administration. Recall that back in 2006 the VA suffered a breach that threatened 26.5 million vets, via laptop theft. The Federal Times reports that that VA is investigating reports of a former VA physician’s assistant who stored unauthorized personal patient data on a personal laptop.

T-Mobile CEO: Talking to Clearwire about hookup

Move the story about Clearwire and T-Mobile USA hooking from “rumor” to “maybe.” Speaking to investors in Frankfurt today, T-Mobile Chief Executive Robert Dotson confirmed the company’s been talking to Clearwire and other companies about joint ventures that would give T-Mobile additional spectrum, Reuters reported .

Pay or Fail: Some iPhone App Sites Demand Money for Reviews

A number of websites ask iPhone developers for money in exchange for “expedited” reviews of their apps. One site even refuses to review apps unless developers pay them a fee. The FTC says paid reviews aren’t illegal, but the practice should raise questions about a publication’s credibility.
