Mini Interview By My Paper (我报)

Did a mini interview by Kenny Chee of My Paper (我报) regarding EpiCentre taking pre-order for iPad. I have negative views on this as EpiCentre did not do a great job last year when they handle the pre-order for iPhone 3GS and end up those who pre-order with them got it later than SingTel customers. It will be fine if you pre-order the iPad WiFi version but for the iPad 3G + WiFi version, there might be a chance that it will be given to telecos first.

One of the most common places to experience a laptop theft or loss is at the airport. In fact, a recent Ponemon Institute study (see blog posts here and here ) have quantified that very thing, noting that about 12,000 laptops per week are lost or stolen in US airports alone

Apple’s new 4th Generation iPhone leaked? Android with HTC Incredible or iPhone 4G?

I’ve always been waiting for the successor of the iPhone 3Gs, apparently June 28 may not be the day the phone be announced due to a leak of a confidential unit so as claim by Gizmodo , which they had the chance to get their hands on for a review of the dud unit. Apparently, the phone was found running iPhone OS 4.0 before it was remotely killed. And before Gizmodo could actually see it

3Com-HP Merger to Have Bigger Impact on Networking World than Iceland Volcano

With the completion of the 3Com merger, HP has taken over the lead in China for some types of networking gear and positions itself against Cisco as the only competitor with similar, though not yet identical, breadth. What brings networking to the front page is that planes are downed across Europe due to the eruption of a volcano in Iceland. This grounding has stranded a massive number of people and the problem is expected to expand, putting increased pressure on telepresence systems, which in turn put increasing loads on networks

Ripten Review: Battlefield: Bad Company 2

In the world of video game journalism, some things are perceived to be self evident. If a game is awful but you need to make sure the company keeps sending you stuff- you give it a 7, if you are the review that bumps a game’s Metacritic rating down a peg- be prepared for hate mail, and if a game comes out that has shooting in it make sure you compare it to other games with shooting in it no matter how tenuous the thread between the two is. Because of that, I decided I was going to do something drastic

A visit to the London Science Museum

I was at the science museum early this month in London, it’s one of the few museums which I really wanted to visit in a long time, (considering what they have on display actually floats my boat!) but never always been able to make the opening times (which closes usually at 5pm-6pm). This is so as learnt on my last visit to the nearby National History Museum- you do really need almost a whole afternoon to explore the place. I guess I was too ambitious trying to visit 2 museums on the same day! Nonetheless I had the chance

Apple MacBook Pro (15-inch, spring 2010) review

Apple’s latest 15-inch MacBook Pros look similar to their predecessors in terms of appearance, but their innards have received a welcome power boost. In the ’60s, NASA rose to prominence as the space race fueled by the Cold War showcased the United States’ competitive spirit in the race to the moon.  But once that goal was met, it was clear the USSR couldn’t keep up the momentum, U.S. funding dropped off and NASA has been on little more than life support since.

3D viewing – an explanation

Avatar has had a massive impact on the development of 3D as a technology, introducing a generation to film with an extra dimension. This demand is predicted to continue its meteoric rise this year as 3DTVs for the home hit the shelves in the UK next month in time for the FIFA world cup in South Africa in June.
