is my acer tv about to die?

hi all, Ive been on thse forums looking to buy a new stereo amp and speakers but since saving up, im now feeling i may have to buy a new tv before its too late i bought an Acer AT3201W for 600 pounds from dabs 2 years ago, no longer has warranty and has been fine until recently none of the buttons will work on the tv or remote unless i switch it on and off at the plug, and this happens at random, and mostly when first turning it on im also noticing the picture is getting worse, eye movement is slower than normal on close ups and faces actually wobble as though one half of the screen was faster than the other i would of hoped that it would last longer but maybe its because i chose acer, at the time it seemed a good deal as equivalent tvs were around 1200 pounds is there a way i can fix this, has anyone else experienced similar and with a budget of 500 pounds can i get a tv that will last me a lot longer and being that prices have dropped since a tv that is around 37 to 42 inch

NASA Says Significant Amout of Water Found on the Moon

So, we bombed the Moon with LCROSS, and NASA says the experiment worked, throwing up enough debris into the atmosphere that photo analysis shows that there is a “significant amount” of water buried/present/existing on the Moon. I’m guessing we’re going to see a new space race to claim all that water here shortly. Soon thereafter that we’ll start seeing bottled water from the Moon on store shelves

E-books: Reading on a computer vs. reading on a reader

Amazon Kindle's new computer app Amazon this week unveiled its Kindle app for PCs, available free for Windows 7, Vista, and XP machines; a Mac version is also promised “soon.” Since similar apps are offered at the Barnes and Noble E-Bookstore and Sony's EBook Store , you can now read books from the three leading digital bookstores on a computer or an e-book reader. (These devices include Amazon's Kindle 2 , Barnes and Noble's upcoming Nook , the upcoming Irex DR800SG , and Sony's line of Readers, including the upcoming Daily Edition .) There are also apps for the iPhone and, sometimes, other smart phones , from Amazon and Barnes and Noble, though not from Sony. So this face-off focuses on the respective advantages of dedicated readers and computers: Advantage e-book readers : Compactness.

Do We Really Need ICT in Education Evaluations?

Back when One Laptop Per Child started, they made an interesting point around evaluations of computer usage in schools. Their core belief was that all evaluations were flawed because we don’t have the right tools to assess the impact of ICT in education, and therefore talking about testing the efficacy of 1:1 computing was wasted effort. Nicholas Negroponte holding electricity I’ve heard this refrain repeated often since then, and not just by those promoting technology in schools.

Can I pixelate/blur someone out of an old home movie?

Hi Guys, Looking for a bit of advice, I have a collection of old home movie on VHS, I’ve been converting them to DVD then to MPG4 format and so far all has gone perfectly. The problem I have is on one video, its about 24 minutes long and contains the only existing footage of my late father & grandmother, something I naturally want to keep and be able to show to my kids. Unfortunately it also contains footage of a person I really do not want, worse this person is frequently seen in the same frame as my father so I’d rather not just cut the frames out.

Madden Arcade Hits XBL & PSN Thanksgiving Week

Some may knock the cartoony style of Madden NFL Arcade, but as a kid that grew up playing NBA Jam in the arcades, I’m really looking forward to getting my hands on Madden Arcade. The game looks fun as hell and I welcome a break from the “just how realistic can we make things look” next gen graphics conga line. If you haven’t seen or heard much of the game, it is essentially 5 on 5 football with insanely unrealistic power ups that freeze opponents in place, send three footballs down field with one whip of the arm, and allow Brett Favre to play until he’s 80

Major Nelson Milestone: Two Million Simultaneous Users on XBL and I Can Still Stream Porn!

Okay, so maybe he didn’t mention the porn streaming part, but in a recent Tweet , Xbox LIVE’s Major Nelson announced the following: “We just hit a new #XboxLIVE record: Over TWO MILLION people connected to the service at once.” I think all two million of us should sign off and sign back on at the same exact moment as a way of expressing our gratitude. Seriously though, two million is a very big and impressive number. In monetary form, it’s double the amount of an infamous Dr.
