EA Planning “First Strong Attack” on Call of Duty with Bad Company 2

Electronic Arts has begun it’s plan to gun down the Call of Duty series in terms of FPS multiplayer and it’s “first strong attack” will be with Battlefield: Bad Company 2, according to EA European boss, Jens Uwe Intat. “In March we will launch Battlefield: Bad Company 2, which is our first strong attack on Call Of Duty,” he told MCV (via CVG ) today. “The shooter space is one we don’t want to give up.

Yoko Ono Donates $55K to Storm Victims

MANILA, Philippines, Jan. 8 (UPI) — Artist and singer Yoko Ono has donated about $55,000 to aid victims of last September’s Tropical Storm Ondoy, the Philippine Embassy in Japan said. Nearly 500 people were killed and thousands left homeless when the storm hit the Pacific region.

Animal Control Officer Accused of Killing and Dumping More Than 100 Animals

CANTON, Miss., Jan. 8 (UPI) — A former animal control officer in Canton, Miss., shot and killed dozens of cats and dogs before dumping the animals ‘ bodies in a creek, officials allege. Canton Alderman Charles Weems said Canton animal control worker Alonzo Esco was fired after being accused of killing 100 or more animals , whose remains were found in an area creek following a citizen complaint, the Jackson (Miss.) Clarion-Ledger reported Friday

CES 2010: Samsung’s new plasma TVs get ultra-thin; some are 3D

Although sometimes overshadowed by all the LCD TV introductions , plasma TVs are alive and well at CES, as evidenced by the three new ultra-slim plasma series unveiled by Samsung during the show this week. All the new plasma models are about 40 percent more efficient than last year’s sets, the company says, and meet the new Energy Star 4.0 guidelines

LAS VEGAS — Segmentation of the electronic book market has begun in earnest with the arrival of the Que, a new reader aimed at executives and traveling business people.
