Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg appears to have been outed as not caring one whit about your privacy — a jarring admission, considering how much of our personal data Facebook owns, not to mention its plans to become the web’s central repository for our preferences and predilections.

I don’t talk much about Blackberries. Mostly because even though I use one I’m just not that big a fan. It’s hard to like a device that is so wrapped up in its own little world that you can’t even check your own pop3 mail without using a service from Blackberry itself! Most people don’t care, they get their email and that’s enough for them.

Blackberry 6. Good or just a good video?
What initially seemed like a remarkable scoop has generated a significant amount of backlash for tech-news bloggers Gizmodo. When an Apple employee allegedly left a prototype next-generation iPhone at a California pub, the device changed hands quickly, eventually winding up in the hands of the website. While the actual means of acquiring this device has been in question, with some sources claiming they purchased the unit for as much as $5,000, this week brought about an entirely new chapter in this saga , that has sharply divided the Internet.

This comes from Vodafone Italy… A bit smarter than those annoying ” ZooZoos ” created by Vodafone India and currently causing brain damage to TV watchers in New Zealand. Don’t get me wrong, Telecom New Zealand also had its silly moments, with those old “Clever Toys” ads showing stuffed animals being silly on the screen and paper.

Media Center users in New Zealand are faced with an interesting situation: the Freeview|HD service (our free-to-air DVB-T digital TV broadcast in high definition) transmits an electronic guide in two formats: the one, more common EIT which is limited to only the current and next TV program and the new MHEG5 which presents the whole week, allowing series link, etc. The problem with the MHEG5 for most media centre users is the lack of support for this standard in the current software releases. What most people have been doing until now was to grab a special XML file from one of many sources online and apply it to their media centre.

I’m helping an older couple buy a laptop. I’m looking for a price point under $500, but not a netbook, I’d like to find a “laptop”, 15′ or bigger. The laptop won’t be for: Games, Web flash stuff, No Traveling, just in-house, Will be for: Dial-up, (no broadband available), Email, I’m open to most common brands and websites/stores.

Mr Editor Bossman at Computerworld NZ , The Roboneill , sent a link to the official YouTube blog with a rather interesting entry by Zahavah Levine, the video hoster’s chief legal counsel. Have a read of it all, but the bit quoted below sticks out: For years, Viacom continuously and secretly uploaded its content to YouTube, even while publicly complaining about its presence there

A number of websites ask iPhone developers for money in exchange for “expedited” reviews of their apps. One site even refuses to review apps unless developers pay them a fee. The FTC says paid reviews aren’t illegal, but the practice should raise questions about a publication’s credibility.
