The Taiwan based company Aiptek have launched these E Readers that are clearly aimed at the kids market, as the devices are coloured in pink and blue. However, despite all of that these are handy devices offering an eight inch display, 1 GB of internal memory and the opportunity to expand this up to 16 GB with the use of an SD card. HP Launch the Classmate PC

This initially looks like the old clamshell style Apple computer, but without the bright oranges and purples! However, this is in fact an offering from HP and it has been initially called the Classmate laptop the next netbook being targeted towards the kids, the true name is not known yet. It has been on show at the Computex 2010 in Taiwan and it looks as if it has all of the makings of the cool design, which means computer users will be interested in the specs.

No more exploding batteries

We have not heard many stories of exploding laptop batteries recently, but there are lithium-ion batteries still out there in laptop world and so there is always the possibility of one of them exploding. However, it seems that there could be a solution to the problem as researchers at Cambridge University have been looking into the chemistry involved within the battery using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. This is somewhat technical, but at least they appear to have found what is wrong, it seems to be a build up of fibres lithium on the carbon anodes

Going green is a good thing these days and Asus are jumping all over the green scene with the launch of their 100 per cent recyclable laptops.
