Turning Microgrants into Lesson Plans Dell and WeAreTeachers is launching a series of microgrants to enable all the great global content that is being produced by WAT's microgrant program to be turned into a searchable lesson plan database. One of the top concerns we hear from educators is that although new technology is wonderful, it can be overwhelming without a practical way to integrate it into everyday teaching

I’m just back from QCon London , a software development conference with an agile flavour that I enjoy because it is not vendor-specific. Conferences like this are energising; they make you re-examine what you are doing and may kick you into a better place

Spilling soda or trapping remnants of Cheeto’s beneath the underbelly of your laptop keyboard is an unfortunate event that’s occurred at one time or another for most longtime users. Did Peter Molyneux start working on Halo games when I wasn’t paying attention? Are jokes about Peter Molyneux’s love of over exaggeration still funny? Either way, the thing in the quotation marks up there is a direct quote from Stephen McGill, Microsoft’s Director of Entertainment.

It is a shame that it wasn’t October, I love alliteration. Anyway, the mystical gaming on demand service OnLive has officially announced a launch date for those of us who dwell in the US of A. Mark your calendars folks, because this thing hits in mid June and should have systematically destroyed all of the gaming world’s paradigms by July.
By Bob Harding http://ictnuggets.wordpress.com Let’s be clear, right from the start, that teaching isn’t easy. If there were a simple formula then it would be packaged up and the debate would be over, anyone who tells you that they have the answer either doesn’t get it or deserves a Nobel Prize (in any one of a number of categories). With that said, accepted and understood, I’d like to use my opportunity as guest blogger to put forward some ideas about organising teaching so that learning stands a better chance of being more effective

Walmart has put Dell’s latest all-in-one PC, the Inspiron One 19, on sale at its locations without much fanfare, apparently causing Engadget to think it’s just been stocked. It was devastating, nine days after an 8.8-magnitude earthquake killed hundreds of people in south-central Chile, relief efforts were beginning to reach those in need, rescue missions became recovery missions, and rebuilding is already under way. In the days since the February 27th quake, nearly 150 aftershocks have been recorded, including thirteen above magnitude 6.0. Despite the rush of humanitarian aid to all affected areas, the government has been criticized by Chileans, who say the response was slow and inefficient

The number one thing to note about this review of Napoleon: Total War is that I was not able to try out the multi-player. The version reviewed, although a complete game, was a pre-release version. If you were looking for a review of the online component of the game, I suggest you go elsewhere (after reading through my review of the single-player, of course)

There is a $1 billion offer on the table to buy Novell from Elliott Associates . The company’s financial performance doesn’t support this kind of price (it is 115 percent over the value of Novell as of January 4th). The investors making the bid are known for flipping companies — basically repackaging them to turn a nice profit rather than run them long-term.

If you haven’t heard yet, Activision escorted former Infinity Ward Studio leads Vince Zampella and Jason West out of their lovely office space bouncer style on March 1st, just a few short days ago. The publisher is reporting that the two were performing acts that they believe to be “breaches of contract” and “insubordination.” However, Jason and Vince have no plans of going down without a fight.
