The Suit Hits the Fan, Infinity Ward Employees Sue Activision for $500 Million

One of the running threads in this whole Infinity Ward versus Activision war was the Activision sympathizers going with the argument that Jason West and Vince Zampella were somehow the bad guys here and that the rest of Infinity Ward didn’t really like them anyway. Well, now 40 current and former Infinity Ward employees are united in suing Activision for, if they get their way, up to half a billion dollars in unpaid cash moneys.

Capcom is Going to Keep Posting Frank West Until We Like Him

For the record, the alternate title for this post was going to be “Frank West: I’ll show up in all your games until you love me, papa-paparazzi!” but I make way too many Gaga references as it is. It isn’t hard to notice that, when it comes to Japan and America understanding of each of the other’s respective cultures, something gets lost in translation more often than not. Usually when this is discussed, we talk about the filter that American’s, and especially otaku, view the Japanese culture through

EA Sports Marketing Machine Preps Football Fans For “Simpler, Quicker, Deeper” Madden NFL 11 “Locomotion” Experience

We touched on this a little yesterday in our “ Run the Darn Play I tell You To Run ” preview of Madden NFL 11, but now you can hear the folks at EA gush about their new “GameFlow” play calling system and “Locomotion” gameplay changes first hand in the first two installments of their five part developer video series. GameFlow will audibly call the play out to you much like an offensive/defensive coordinator does with their designated player on the field and Locomotion aims to add another level of authenticity to the handling and control of players on the field.

Gizmodo & Apple: Fallout from iPhone Leak?

What initially seemed like a remarkable scoop has generated a significant amount of backlash for tech-news bloggers Gizmodo. While the actual means of acquiring this device has been in question, with some sources claiming they purchased the unit for as much as $5,000, this week brought about an entirely new chapter in this saga , that has sharply divided the Internet.

Taking a practical approach to ITIL

At the Service Desk and IT Support Show this week, the first show attended as part of Dell, one of the most common questions from people was about getting the most out of your IT service desk. My response to this depends on how far developed the customer is around their IT. For some companies, ITIL seems like a formidable undertaking and one where they struggle to see the value

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Marks The End of 25 Man Raiding?

Blizzard issued an update today addressing some changes that will effect raiding in the upcoming Cataclysm expansion, and it didn’t take long for some of the hard-core 25 man raiding faithful to question the logic. If you play Blizzard’s popular MMO, World of Warcraft, chances are you will come across a long time player who preaches openly to anyone who will listen about the days of “vanilla wow.” A time when the level of gear one possessed “stood for something” and end-game bosses couldn’t care less about being more accessible to the masses. Those of us who never experienced the game in it’s original form at inception may be shocked to hear that raids once consisted of 40 individuals working together to slay virtual beasts and claim virtual loot

A Coffeemaker for All Seasons: Krups Grind & Brew

While I oftentimes feel cliche talking about how my life as a college student affects the content of the Smarter Gadget blog, today felt especially appropriate, given the nifty gadget we’re taking a look at.  Students are notorious for sleeping far less than they should, and I, for one, can certainly vouch for the truthfulness of this supposition.  While many drink coffee for the sake of the caffeine buzz, a well-brewed cup can be a great delicacy as well.
