Government issues $400m desktop tender

The Department of Finance and Deregulation today issued a three-year whole-of-government tender that will see vendors on a panel supply computer equipment to all Federal Government agencies. Minister for Finance and Deregulation, Lindsay Tanner (Credit: Minister’s Office) The whole-of-government tender has been issued as a response to a recommendation made by the Gershon review , released in 2008. It will see Federal Government agencies request desktop computer equipment from a single panel instead of issuing their own tenders, which would replace an interim panel set-up by the Department of Defence late last year.

David Cox, a producer at Konami and owner of the twitter account “CastlevaniaLOS”, tweeted a few details about the upcoming game today. In addition to sharing the title’s number seven ranking on GameTrailers most anticipated games list, Cox also revealed the following bits of information in response to questions about the game: “There is lots of platforming – climbing, jumping, using the combat cross to swing, grip, rappel and all sorts of stuff !!” tweet and in reply to a question asking how long the game was “looking to be?”, he stated: “around 15 hours for an average player” tweet Nothing too eye popping in terms of the platforming info, but I’m fairly happy with the gameplay length for a platformer

NBN connections lag Rudd promise?

The Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy has refused to say how many homes, if any, have been connected up to Tasmania’s National Broadband Network (NBN), something which according to Prime Minister Kevin Rudd should have already happened. Prime Minister Kevin Rudd (Credit: Commonwealth Government) In July last year, Rudd said the first homes would be connected “come the end of the year”. He added that it was to turn the services on “come July” of this year.

The idea of the funding was to create a pilot city in which to carry out trials to show how smarter, more aware energy networks can help Australians use less energy.
