The computer maker Dell is offering new customers who buy a Dell Studio 15, Studio 17 or Studio XPS 16, the opportunity to add the Intel wireless module for $60. This piece of kit enables the computer to access Wi-Fi and WiMax networks in Atlanta, Baltimore and Portland, Oregon. Unfortunately, unless the user lives in any one of these cities then there is little chance of being able to access the network and get onto the internet while sitting outside drinking a nice cup of coffee.

I don’t know why I didn’t do this a long time ago, but I have just created annotated tag sets for two of my workshops (I guess I get the “bookmarking” part of social bookmarking, but sometimes forget about the “social” part.): Web 2.0 — All You Can Eat Buffet Using Open educational resources – Share, Remix, Learn I already do wikis for all my workshop, and tag sets are another logical step of going to all-electronic workshop materials. Both of these tools are also a nice way to continue to deliver new info long after the workshops are over and to share with a wider audience

But the truth of the matter is that a laptop is a dust magnet and the dust can cause the eventual failure of your notebook. What you need to do is take the time to clean your notebook regularly. For most people, you will only really need to clean it once or twice per year. But if you live somewhere that is extremely dusty, or if you have pets (think dog, cat, etc.), then you should do it a little more regularly because the pet hair can end up in the laptop as well.

Asus have been knocking out new mini laptops like anyone’s business, the 1008HA is already appearing in the stores while the extra special 1008HA Seashell has been officially launched in Korea recently but no news of when it is going to appear on the shelves here. Apple could be getting ready to cut prices on iMacs and MacBooks . AppleInsider is reporting that Apple plans to introduce less expensive versions of its two most popular Macs at some point over the next several months. It’s not clear how much of a cut Apple has in mind, or whether it plans to offer more value at current prices, but Apple has apparently decided that it wants to hedge its bets against a proliferation of cheap netbooks over the last year or so, according to the report
