Hurry, Cut the Red Wire!

ZDNet reports that researchers have discovered that the Conficker worm can be detected on a computer by simply asking for it over a network. This revelation is just in time because on April 1, Conficker is supposed to go boom! This update is great, for servers and large networks, but it does not help personal computer users that much. What will help is the Microsoft Security Bulletin update MS08-067 .

Here are the updates Microsoft has released today: Critical : Vulnerabilities in Windows Kernel Could Allow Remote Code Execution (958690) This security update resolves several privately reported vulnerabilities in the Windows kernel. The most serious vulnerability could allow remote code execution if a user viewed a specially crafted EMF or WMF image file from an affected system. Important : Vulnerability in SChannel Could Allow Spoofing (960225) This security update resolves a privately reported vulnerability in the Secure Channel (SChannel) security package in Windows.
